GOALS

Here are my goals for reading, writing and math for Term 3.

KOROWAI

My Mum had a korowai made for her graduation.
korowai is a particular type of kākahu (cloak). It is usually decorated with feathers and/or tassels and has a border along the bottom.

It will stay in our family now and hopefully one day I will get to wear it as well.
Here are some pictures of it.

Koromiko

The  Maori name for this plant is Koromiko.
The botanical name is hebe stricta.
The common name is hebe.
This tree can grow at least 1m tall and 1m wide.

Koromiko is a low spreading shrub and flowers in a number of different colours. It has glossy green leaves and grows best on lower levels in rich soil.

The tender shoots were used to relieve stomach aches.

The ends of the leaves were chewed and used for the treatment of diarrhoea.

Tender leaves were are picked and applied as a poultice for ulcers.

This is a bottle of Koromiko made into medicinal helps.
